“We skipped the traditional SaaS layer and had Eclipse build a custom system of record across all of our different data sources. They then turned that system of record into a single system of understanding, where anyone can ask questions based on their role and almost instantaneously get the right answers.”

The problem

At this mid-size law firm, matter information was scattered across iManage, Outlook, and individual attorneys' private tracking habits, so a simple question — who owns a matter, what its status is, what happened last — required manually reconstructing the answer every time. That fragmentation showed up in three places day to day: documents were hard to track down and occasionally went to the wrong recipient, matter communications and follow-ups sat buried in individual inboxes with no shared visibility, and finding the firm's own best-negotiated contract language meant an attorney opening and skimming dozens of past documents by hand, since retrieval only ever worked at the document level, never the clause level.

The solution

Eclipse built the firm a matter intelligence layer that reconciles matter ownership, status, and activity across iManage, Outlook, and its other systems of record, with every attorney seeing only what they're actually staffed on. Alongside it, a document and email classification layer tags communications to the right matter automatically, catching misdirected documents and missed follow-ups before they become a client-facing problem. A third tool gives attorneys passage-level clause search across a curated set of the firm's best-negotiated documents, deep-linking straight to the exact provision instead of making them scan whole contracts. All three run on ChatGPT, with no client data used to train any external model and every result trimmed to what that attorney is permitted to see.

The impact

Attorneys no longer reconstruct matter status by hand — they look it up. Research on the firm's own best precedent language, once a multi-hour, multi-document exercise, now takes a few minutes per search. Misdirected documents and missed follow-ups have dropped sharply now that communications are reliably tied to the right matter from the start.
